Peer Leaders

Peer Leading and Service Learning

The Peer Leadership program provides a group of select 11th and 12th grade students with training and experience to further develop their leadership skills. Peer Leaders are often called upon to represent U-High and have a variety of leadership opportunities to work across Schools and in our greater community.

The Peer Leadership program is a two-year commitment. Peer Leaders are matched with an underclassman advisory and transition with the same group of advisees from the 9th to the 10th grade.

Junior Peer Leaders partner with 9th grade advisories, working to build community within the advisory, and serve as a resource and mentor for students as they transition into High School. Senior Peer Leaders facilitate service learning seminars in conjunction with the 10th grade advisory program and provide support and guidance to students volunteering in the community.

Peer Leaders commit to attending weekly class meetings during Open Time, a two-day leadership retreat in the summer, and other trainings during the academic year. Junior Peer Leaders help facilitate the U-High Orientation for 9th grade students and 9th Grade Retreat, and Senior Peer Leaders serve alongside the 10th grade students and lead activities on the 10th grade retreat.
